Cable operators have invested billions of dollars since the turn of the century, and this investment has been felt in every community across the nation. According to PPI’S US Investment Heroes of 2016 Report, cable & telecom is the largest investor in the growth of the U.S. economy with 48 billion invested.
Just here in Missouri cable operators invested more than $195 million on system improvements, and have spent more than $1 billion in improvements over the last five years. Within the state of Missouri, the cable industry employs more than 6,000 people and serves more than a million subscribers including:
- 750,000 high speed internet subscribers
- 600,000 cable subscribers
- 370,000 telephone subscribers
The cable industry supports local communities with more than 2,000 Missouri schools utilizing the service of their local cable operator. Those same operators pay more than $31 million annually in franchise fees.
